You are one of the composers being bred. The others listen first for your tempo and key, then join in wherever you are not playing: bass, tenor or soprano. Clap or tap with no notes and they pick a key and follow your rhythm. Your own style joins the mix after a few bars.

Local control
Notes prepared ahead keep playing on time even if the phone stalls. Knob changes are heard after this delay.
Grand piano recorded from the Salamander Grand Piano by Alexander Holm (CC BY 3.0).
Each composer's strip in the deck shows the parts they play (Melody, Chords, Bass, Rhythm) with the instrument for each. Tap a composer's strip to open it, then tap a part to switch it on or off and pick its instrument.

Over MIDI, the ensemble's sounds are sent as General MIDI program changes, which GM synths follow. In Logic, pick the instruments on each track instead.
Composers, breeding, tempo, key, dynamics, sounds and the melody and accompaniment switches change the music live. Length, form, mode, meter and key changes are planned when you press Play.
MIDI control
Turn knobs and faders on a MIDI controller to move these sliders while the music plays. The standard layout uses the mod wheel for Dynamics, CC 7 for Volume, and CC 21 to 29, the first knob bank on many controllers, for the rest. Press Learn and move a knob to assign your own.

Audio is transcribed to notes as best it can: clear recordings of one or two instruments work best. The first 6 minutes of each file are used.

IIBuilt-in composers
From the Hurrian Hymn (c. 1400 BC) through composers who died by 1951. Learned from piano performances at piano-midi.de by Bernd Krueger (CC BY-SA), the ADL Piano MIDI dataset, scores from the Mutopia Project, and Bach chorales, Palestrina masses, Monteverdi madrigals and Trecento music from the music21 corpus. Early music: Gregorian chant from GregoBase, Byzantine chant from Basil Crow's settings (CC BY-NC-ND, read with Neanes), the Hurrian Hymn in reconstructions by West, Kilmer and Duchesne-Guillemin (midi-ld h.6), medieval songs transcribed by Ali Corbin, and 15th-century polyphony from the Josquin Research Project. Composers with only a few pieces have thinner styles.
